Feng Shui consulations by Elspeth Anne BeierA house sits on the market for months while a similar one nearby sells in a weekend. Across town, parents grow increasingly frustrated with their teenage son who seems to lack the focus and drive of his friends. A successful executive grapples with staffing issues and weak sales despite a healthy economy. Why do some people seem to struggle in life while others move through it with relative ease?

The answer often lies in the principles of feng shui. Pronounced fung shway, this ancient Chinese art possesses the power to improve every aspect of your life by enhancing the ch’i – or life force – of your environment. Developed some 6,000 years ago, feng shui is used throughout the world to bring prosperity, good health and beneficial relationships to individuals, families and businesses.

Spaces that "feel" right

We have all walked into places that seem welcoming, comfortable and safe as well as those that leave us feeling up-tight or anxious. Those feelings are the result of the physical and metaphysical qualities of the room. Feng shui can alter the energies of both environments and the people within them to encourage vitality and serenity.

It is important to note that feng shui is not a branch of interior design but rather a practical science. Unfortunately, the Western tendency to oversimplify and dilute this very complex subject has resulted in skepticism and misunderstanding. Traditional feng shui is the art and natural science of creating balanced, harmonious and enriching environments through keen observation of the three forms of ch’i – heavenly, earthly and human, and their interaction with each other.

The search for serenity & prosperity

Amazon River landscapeThe need for feng shui varies from one person to the next. Some wish to stimulate creativity or attract greater professional success, while others delight in their circumstances and wish to nurture and maintain the fulfilling lives that they lead.

In each case, Four Pillars Feng Shui founder, Elspeth Anne Beier, draws upon her deep knowledge of the four major schools of feng shui and 30 years of training and teaching meditation, T’ai Chi and Chinese astrology. The history of the space is researched and detailed floor plans are drawn up to determine the physical coordinates of both the structure and the property upon which it sits. After conducting an in-depth analysis of the physical environment, the astrological charts of each of its occupants or key business executives are studied to better understand which energies need promoting and which need toning down. The results are startling: homes previously stuck on the market sell, distracted students focus and learn, relationships thrive and businesses prosper.
